Rusty Discs (Inner Edge)

Had my 4th service yesterday (cheers Allams!) and the car was fine; only comment being that the discs, both front and rear, are rusty on the inner edge.

Does that explain the absolute s*** brakes on the car? And will doing several "enthusiatic" ;) stops get rid of this rust? I've had a search and I'm come across brakes glazing over, but I'm unsure whether this is the same thing.

Certainly going to look into a pad upgrade or the 312mm setup soon!

EDIT: Forgot to say, I only use the car at weekends; so it doesn't move during the week (took 3 months for me to cover 1000 miles). And I don't brake hard, unless I need to.

Only using the car at weekends and light braking is the biggest cause for premature brake disk corrosion. There is little that can be done, other than replace the disks/pads once the corrosion has got going. Hard braking will remove the surface rust, but anything deeper is not going anywhere. You even find that on hard braking large chunks of disk in heavily corroded area come away.

Even if you changed the discs you'll be back to square 1 after a few weeks if the car is only used at w/ends.

What do they mean by 'inner edge'. You'll always get a rust ring on the outer circumference part as it's not touched by the pads. Only the contact areas matter. If the inner face is corroded, that's different. If the discs are still pretty thick, then fine emery paper should remove it without problems; use it on the pads too to remove any layer pushed onto them.

As Viewer says, we really can't advise you without pictures of the discs.
