HI folks,

have just bought 50 quids worth on new cleaning products.

My car is suffering with bad swirls marks - mainly on the bonnet.

I tried Autoglym Super Resin Polish but still not happy.

So I have bought ScratchX 2.0, hopefully this will work. Has anyone tried this? If so, good results?

Here is the car so far:

I used scratchX 2.0 yesterday on my GF's tigra. I had mixed results with it. Items such as scuff were removed after heavy amount of rubbing but scratches remained. If it doesn't work first time round try adding more pressure to the rub :)

VAG paint is very hard so you really have two options.

1: Hide swirls by using AG SRP which has a lot of fillers in it. Swirls will re-appear after a few washes though.

2: Do a full correction detail with a DA or rotary and suitable pad/polish combo. This is highly skilled work, so you need to practice on old panels to perfect the technique.

Farcla G3 will shift most swirls by hand, but it's tough work, and even tougher to polish up the paint to full gloss after the G3 has removed the swirls.

Hi folks,

Have just tried out the new products, to be honest not that impressive, me thinks I have more shopping to do!!

I think AG SRP is better than ScratchX2.0

Anyway here are pics - about 1.30hrs worth of cleaning today:

Looks like a nice shine on that and the wheels look like they are in good condition also...........

What products did you buy and which one's weren't you happy with?

(Seen your other thread reference the Megs Super Terry Cloth)

Thought I would give my new products marks out of 10

Ultra-Safe Wheel Spoke Brush - 7/10

AG Alloy Wheel Sea - 7/10 - the problem is the sealant is in a spray can and its advises you not to get the sealant on the brake discs - I have used badboys before and I would say BB is better.

Meguiars GC Leather Cleaner & Conditioner - 8/10 - very good, much better than the Gliptone Liquid Leather Cleaner I have used before

Meguiars Even Coat Applicator Pads (2 pack) - 6/10 - not impressed really, think foam pads are much better

Ultra Plush Super Terry - 4/10 - waste of money, much better products available

Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner - 8/10 - very good, worked well on the brake dust etc

ScratchX 2.0 - NEW - 4/10 - doesn't do what it says on the tin! Works on very very small scratches only

Surprised you don't rate the Gliptone as I think that is the best Leather product I have used to date................

ScratchX 2.0 is something that can be used as you say on small scratches but sounds like you may have something more?

Nice little summary for other users though there.........

UPDATE: Have just used the Terry cloth again on the Mothers car but used it for wiping off the wax, I had previously used it on my car for drying. I would now rate the cloth much higher, say more like 7/10.

The Gliptone was good don't get me wrong and I was ready to buy the product (was using a mates first) but thought I would try something different and was very pleased with the results, the Meguiars seems to leave a softer feel.
