Featured Replies

im looking to buy a jvc kD-avx11 stereo dvd thingy for my octy, my wonders are

the unit is 4x50 watt, but the octy has 4 speakers 4 tweaters? im guessing these are spuring from the loom and not from the rear of the head unit (8x something??) ?.

also any tricks to removing the "symphony" headunit? are the keys easily avalible?

and finally , is an iso adaptor needed or any cables need swaping over ?? (the old red and yellow thingy)

cheers guys

Hi,

Not sure about your wiring question, but maybe do a search for "symphony unit wiring diagram" and having a look at the connections should give you some idea. In fact, here it is:

Wiring Digram Thread

As for removing the head unit, don't buy the keys from skoda, they don't have a clue.:thumbdwn: Go to halfords and buy the keys. I think its the kenwood removal tool that you want. You just push them into the vertical slots on the head unit and it should spring forwards.

By the way, do you know what you intend to do with old symphony head unit? I'd be interested in buying it from you if your selling as mine has packed up.

hello,

cheers for the info, its a tape head unit, works fine i just need my CDs and the changers dead so head unit it will be, but i dont think i have the code, where can i find this? ive had a quick flick thru my documents but nothing at the mo.

it will be up for grabs as id only have it floating about as a spare, £15 plus postage id say. i dont know when im getting my new unit yet tho so may be a week or two.

For the aftermarket headunit you will need the aerial adaptor which acts as a booster for the signal - fine if you listen to the radio. As mentioned there are only 4 channels - if you look at the speaker connections you will see the remaining 2 wires for the tweeters.

ariel adaptor??

Hi,

I'm in no rush so I don't mind if its a few weeks. And yeah it's just the head unit I need as I connect mine up to an ipod adapter.

I have done a quick search on the radio code issue. Apparently to get the code you need to go to a dealer and possibly provide them with a serial number off the head unit. Some dealers seem to charge for this. If you were willing to get the code from the dealer I'd be willing to pay whatever they charge you (depending on how much it is of course)?

For the aftermarket headunit you will need the aerial adaptor which acts as a booster for the signal - fine if you listen to the radio.

I bought one for this reason and when the new head unit was installed - Becker Mexico Pro - without the booster to give it a try, the signal was better than with the Symphony, so it was never fitted. Still fine three years down the line. Just goes to show....

Hey,

Just wondered whether you have any luck sorting out your new stereo and getting the code for the old one?
