Centre caps - help please

Featured Replies

Want to get skoda centres for Audi mini comps. The original skoda OEM alloy wheel centres were too small to fit to mini comps, just fell straight through. The Audi centre caps on there are domed, so can't just stick Skoda stickers over them.

Any ideas welcome, thanks in advance.

the mini comps are strange... i just kept the audi ones :)

never found a replacement :(

the tt comps however use the same size :)

Thanks, yeah looks like the mini comps are 60mm diameter (55 on the back to the spring).

I'll have a dig on ebay.

If worse comes to worsted, I'm sure the audi logo would pop off with persuasion from a flat nose screw driver, then you could fill, sand and re paint so they're just smooth?

The Audi logo can be picked out quite easily, I was going to do that to convert some Audi centres to VW - but gave up and made some VW ones fit. I thought that my mistake was buying Audi alloys that had a large centre cover that covered the bolts - I had thought that you would have very little trouble with these as its only the centre hole that needs plugging. It seems that you, like me have found that the hole centres are not common across the VAG range - strange!

what about a steering wheel badge?

what about a steering wheel badge?

same size as the oem skoda wheel badges... 55mm iirc

I think I'm going to leave it, or maybe debadge the audi centres and smooth off.

Think that would look OK.

You can prise out the audi logo, buy some skoda badges from EBAY or a tyre/wheel dealer. Use clear silicone on the back of the badge and press onto centre cap. I did this to my audi wheels with VW badges and they stayed on for over 6years without comming off.

Sorry Soot1e

I must have missed your post/thread

I shall monitor your movements more closely from now on! :P

I can still sort you out if you still looking.....

Are you going to try to "bowl" them - ie make them domed to suit the Audi centers before fitting them? That would make them stick on for longer I think.

That's exactly the plan, if I can get them to curve to match the audi centres, then job done.

They are thin aluminium so should be OK. Watch this space ...

No dice I'm afraid, the curve on the audi centres is too much for the (very) thin aluminium stick ons that I bought. Gonna get some generic 60mm blank (flat) centres now.

You could always get these: Blank centre caps

Then get some 60mm badges to stick onto the surface of them? That's what I'm doing with my mini comps anyway, after I've given them a lil refurb :)

Yeah I saw those, thanks, but not sure they'd fit + hold in place. The mini comps are weird when it comes to centres. If you have any success though let me know ;)

I didn't see your earlier post about the blank centre caps sorry! But yeah I'll let you know if they fit or not when I get them

Im in the same boat, dont mind to audio ones, but now i`v seen pasty boys ones im feelin a set of them :D

OK guys, I've ordered some of the 63mm generic blanks off ebay (ntl imports). I carefully measured the oem audi ones and they are 60mm tooth to tooth, so these are the only ones that will fit snug, the 60mm blanks are only 56mm tooth to tooth. I'll let you know if they fit OK.

Right, here's the answer for those of you with mini comps ...

The 63mm centres from here (ebay search 63mm centres - they are generic black ones) do fit BUT you will have to shave off approx 1.5mm off all round the diameter of the front face so that the centres actually fit inside the hole, not stand proud of it. Not sure if that's clear. I'll post some pics if it helps.

Add some (ebay) skoda centre foil stickers, et voila ... pics to follow.

Is it not possible to jus stick em over the standard ones? or was that the issue with them being too curved?

Thanks matt
