Yeti pricing

The first Yeti price info has been released in CZ and the base 2wd 1.2TSI comes in at the equivalent of just under £12k and the 2.0 TDI 4x4s start from just under £15k. Seems competitive but we'll see how this translates to actual UK prices!

That is true, but I think car prices must be quite expensive in Germany as the Yeti still undercuts the Tiguan variants by several thousand euros for roughly equivalent engines.

Agreed, prices do seem to vary quite a bit throughout the EU, an Octavia Scout for example here in France is about 30500 euros, in Holland 36500, or in Austria 28200. Our Danish friends paid 42000 euros for a pre- registered Peugeot 307 estate, middle range petrol model!! Ouch! Shows how subsidised UK prices are at the momment, cant last much longer I suspect, too much money being lost.

By VW, at nearly 10 grand less per car they must be losing money on each uk sale, or making a huge profit on other sales. You can buy a Octavia tdi 140 4X4 for about 18000 sterling in uk, not counting any discount available, the same in France will cost you 30000 euros, even with the difference in exchange rates, thats a lot of money!

Actually the pre-tax prices from factory are pretty much levelled inside EU these days.. there's a certain percent variance allowed by EU but that's it. The pricing differences have much more to do with local car tax etc than factory pricing. Fex my quite well specced VRS cost 38,000 euros in Finland. That's a whopping 32,5k sterling. Would you in the UK pay that much? Propably not... are we in M3 category already??? ;)

It's all down to local tax differences eg. car tax in Denmark is not far off 200% unless you enter into some scheme where you rip the back seats out, plus remember our cars are RIGHT HAND DRIVE, so you can't really compare prices in the UK with the Czech or Slovak Republics because those cars are built on a much larger scale in lhd form.

Just picked up the official french yeti prices, range from 18890 euros for a base 1.2 4X2 to 31900 euros for a top spec TDi 170 4X4, at current exchange rates these are 16284 and 27500 pounds sterling respectively. Equipement levels seem quite high.
