vRS Brake Upgrade

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm thinking of upgrading the front brakes on the hearse to mk4 R32 ones. Does anyone know is it hard to do... do the carriers bolt on? Would I need anything special to do the job?

hi mate,

iirc the r32 setup bolts straight on and will be a decent upgrade (334mm) however, they are only 2 pot calipers so will not be as effective as the 'usual' vag 4pot upgrade (Ie brembos) plus the discs are rather expensive....around the 3-400 mark for a pair!!! They are also heavy and will probably not help hadling issues!

Am trying to sort out some carriers to allow for up brembo carriers, just working out how i can keep the weight down overall, will keep you posted as i will make some extra sets up!

They are testing a set of Diablo brakes over on the Mkiv forums. Should work out at about £500 all in. Getting them as soon as testing finished.

do i take it that bespoke brackets are needed to fit leon cupra R brembo calipers to the mk1 octavia vrs?

Thanks guys, I've managed to get my hands on the mk4 R32 calipers, discs and pads. Anyone recommend any particular brake pad for them?

Hi all,

Just had the local Skoda dealership offer them up to the car. The carriers bolt straight on but the discs (I have 2 sets) are rubbing on the caliper forceing it at an angle. Has anyone upgraded to a set of r32 front 2 pot brakes?

I was recommended to get the discs machined smaller by approximately 4mm

I'm not sure of the absolute fitting details, I'd have expected the 334mm version with 100mm stud centres to fit pretty much straight on.. (the alternative 345mm kit has 112mm stud pattern IIRC) but I do know the discs weigh as much as a small country! They are shockingly heavy. Aftermarket they are available at around £120pr, but dealer will want something over £300pr
