Claying

Featured Replies

Hey, can someone fill me in on what the process involves and what results i should expect to gain?

Also where is the best place to buy it from ?

Best bet is a Meguires Quikclay box set.

Squirt the Quick Detailer onto a clean car (doesn't really matter if it's dry or not), then kneed the clay until it's soft, and rub it back and fourth over the paintwork, folding the clay to get a clean section.

Will remove all contaminates from your paint work and give you a good base to seal and wax from :)

I found it worth while investing in a 5l bottle of Megs last touch.

as stated best clay to buy is bilt hamber because all the lubricant you need is water,i personally use this, the only results you gain is getting the paint surface as smooth as glass and ready for your polish or wax.

Yep, the Bilt Hamber stuff it good. you can get it direct from them:

Corrosion Protection - Rust Removal - Car Wax - Car Polish - Bilt-Hamber UK

Their shampoo and Auto-Balm are good too.

I went for the meg's smooth car finish kit as you get a micro fibre cloth, a small bottle of wax (best for a base layer), a bottle of quick detailer and two clay bars.

Works a treat however never apply it when the sun is out high in the sky as the detailer spray drys before you'll work the area and you'll end up using more product for the same job.

anybody tried the autoglym clay?

I will back this comment up as it can be used as a Drying Aid also............

Megs Clay Kit is OK but sometimes it can be better to buy another brand that has a little more bite to it and is in most cases cheaper..........

I cut my clay bar into small pieces - makes it easier to work with. Plus if you drop it, so simply throw it away and use another piece.

There are a few video clips on youtube of how to use clay if your not sure. Always better to see someone actucally using it. Just search for clay or claybar.
