New Fault Reader tool without laptop?

Featured Replies

Saw this " U280 CAR FAULT CODE READER FOR VOLKSWAGEN AUDI SEAT SKODA" on eBay.

and

OBD2 VW Audi SEAT SKODA VAG Fault Code Reader Scanner on eBay, also, Diagnostic Tools Equipment, Garage Equipment Tools, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 26-Jun-09 22:25:39 BST)

This is not just a cable to attach to a laptop, but a cable with a simple reader attached, and some sell for less than £25 including delivery.

Obviously they will not be able to do as much as the full Ross-tech system and software on a laptop, but as a quick solution to get a fault code or reset it, it looks reasonable.

Has anyone used one of these or got views on it (backed by reasonable evidence) ;)?

I had one when I had my Mk1 Octy vRS, and as you quite rightly say, it cannot ever compete with Vag-Com, but as a handy tool to keep in the car to read and re-set fault codes they are brilliant.

Andyrew used it lots more than I did on his Octy vRS, nearly every day in fact.....LOL

I have one of these

It is a little more expensive But it does allow for you to be able to make basic adaptations etc as well as read/clear fault codes etc.
