W Reg Fabia Elegence FacFit Alarm Whereabouts?

Featured Replies

Afternoon All

first post on here.. but not my first visit... by far..

i have a W Reg (2000) 1.4 Skoda Fabia Elegance..

now im suffering with the common alarm fault in the fabia.. attemped to take my door panel apart, following these instructions but they start after getting the panel off.. and in trying to find the locking mechanism.. and not being a mechanic i got down to the metal and decided to stop before i lost anymore nuts or broke the window runs somehow..

So ive decided to try and tackle this from the other angle.... Where is

A) the control box for the alarm system and can i isolate the wires going into it from the various doors - to ascertain which one is driving me nuts!

B) where is the siren - sounds to me that its loudest in the engine compartment near the front windowscreen somewhere but without annoying neighbours and becoming deaf i cant find it.. and can it be disconected easily?

C) is there anyway within the door panels of isolating the door swtiches

D) is there anyway of locking the car without the alarm being set (ive tried using the internal lock button above the window switches from the passanger door - appears to work but it still went off 5 times last night)

Any assistance would be a life saver!

Cheers

Fletch

Though it doesn't fix the problem. I believe you can just whip the alarm system fuse out to shut it up. It may even be just the siren you can shut up this way.

right.. well update on the situation..

all the doors are disconnected at the pillars.. (also a pain in the ****.. its like im back in 1989!!)

Bonnet disconnected... interior sensor disconnected...

and WERR WOOO WERR WOOO!!! The alarm goes off 3am this morning..

according to the manual the only place left for a sensor is the boot.. .now last time i tried to set the alarm off by being in car and unlatching it.. nothing happened.. but i've just tried it again and alarm went off..

SSOOOOO..

how do you disconect the boot sensor? (i've already unclipped the obvious connector to the white thing but it still went off?!?)

or is there an easy way to be able to disconnect the siren without removing the front window grill bit?!?

Please help! :-( xx

Logic would say that if all sensors are disconnected and the alarm still goes off, then it could be the alarm itself or the convenience control unit. Perhaps the time has come for a VAGCOM readout?

hmmm... but that costs moolah.. something i dont have :-( x

search for VAGCOM owners in your area, they may do it for free or a few beertokens/packet of hobnobs/choccies for the wife
