My Windows Are Broken!

Featured Replies

Ok my windows have been very temperamental recently. When they work they both work, when they don't work, they both don't work and it's now summer and it's a pain in the butt! I'm actually at the point of saying I dislike my fabia (just because the windows are ****). So can anyone help me? I don't want to pay and take it to the dealers because I hve no money to do so. I'm thinking it might just be a loose connection in the electrics somewhere? (That's just a wild stab in the dark btw, I have no idea what I'm on about). I first thought it might have been the regulator by reading other threads, but the windows work sometimes and the problem affects both windows. Any help would be greatly apprectiated.

Sounds like the same problem ive got. Just "inherited" my mums car and she didn't really care, but it p*sses me off a treat lol atm its just the drivers side, drivers window control that is playing up, but before all the electric window controls have been tempremental

check for water ingress in the driver's door window motor. if there is, some electrical cleaner should set it right

Before you start taking bits off, try resetting the controller. I can't remember which window's fuse it's on, but if you remove both (listed in the manual) and stick them back in after about 30 seconds it should do the trick. If that works, you'll need to reset the one-touch which you do by winding the windows all the way down and then up again, holding the button in the up position for a good 10 seconds after the windows have reached the top... :)

Because both your windows play up at the same time I don't think it'll be a door specific problem.

From what I saw in those pictures you posted in your other thread, the window kit on your car isn't the norm and has been installed by the dealer rather than at the factory.

I actually think you maybe closer than you think with the loose connection suggestion and would be inclined to pull out that unit under the radio where the switches are (carefully of course) just to check the wiring and trace it back as far as possible. You may have to pull the radio out a little first.

Just to let other people see, hope you don't mind.
