have 2lt octavia elegance 2005 when you put your foot down fairly fast it blows a cloud of smoke from yhe back is this normal because it doese use oil from time to time have to top it up. 30000 miles

Is it diesel or petrol? What colour is the smoke - black or grey?

If diesel then a little smoke is normal on hard acceleration.

Oil usage varies massively - just hunt around this forum and you will find anything from 1000 to 10000 miles per litre

Black smoke perfectly normal, but if you've past 20k miles and have not changed your air filter then it's time to put a new filter in. If the one in there is dirty/blocking then this will reduce smoke and may also increase the MPG marginally.

it is diesel, smoke is black, put about 1 lt in 10000 miles only on hard acceleration changed air filter at 27000 .

Smoke is normal, you should see my 2.0tdi it smokes a lot when on full throttle, so a work colleague tells me who followed me the other day.

1lt in 10k miles is perfectly fine as well, mine used to use that much but now at 75000 miles hardly uses any.
