VXR8 Bathurst. Any opinions?

Featured Replies

Hi guys, just wondered if anyone on here had first hand experience of the VXR8 - Im after opinions on the car itself and the 'liveability' of owning a fairly big, V8 powered car in the UK.

Im toying with the idea of a VXR8 6.2 LS3 Bathurst, manual box, in white. I dont really want to go onto the VXR boards just yet so was looking for an unbiased opinion really.

Should anyone on here have driven a VXR8 please post up and share your feelings.

Many thanks,

Lee

Can't help sorry but I love muscle cars.

Thinking of a Chrysler 300C SRT-8 if I can manage the running costs next time. Cars like this aren't going to be around for much longer.

I was very tempted when I got my Evo X as price was similar, however, the fuel economy on them make the evo look economical, they did look fun when Clarkson test drove the one on top gear though.

Simple but to the point - I like it Steve. :D;)

Been doing a bit more reading up on them. No they are not economical in terms of fuel use (then again it will only cover about 6,000 miles a year!) but for the money they appear to be a genuine bargain and parts and servicing are very reasonable. They also seem to be bullet proof in terms of reliability, even running 640bhp when modded!

Just found that the the Bathurst gets 15 point adjustable coilovers as standard and on the brakes side of things gets 385mm AP 6 pots at the front and 350mm AP four pots on the rear!!! The rear disks on that thing are bigger than the upgraded S3 fronts on mine!!

Thanks for the views so far. Any further comments greatfully received. :)

If you want to buy one I will drive it and give you a review of what its like,if not if i win the lottery this week i will give a full review as its top of my wish list.

There are a few reviews around,Top Gear love them, the last i read was Richard Hammond in last months TG magazine,he loved it.

A friend of a friend has one. He manages 12mpg. He had an evo before that. The differance in mpg is day and night.

If I could afford the fuel. I would have one.

You had me at Holden Monaro Bathurst! Do it!!!

Phil had one on here and sold it after it got nicked by entry to his house.

He had the limp wristed 'lightweight' version........................ the Bathurst will put hairs on yer eyeballs :P ;)

I was following the 'limp wristed' :D version the other day and it sounded like God gargling on M8 Rawlbolts. Seriously, it was the best sounding car i've heard for a long time.

I dread to think how good the manly version will sound, If I had the dough I would have one in a heartbeat. Go for it.

I know one of shifty's mates had one think it was one of the 1st edition ones that was supercharged, no doubt he had a drive in it. might be worth a pm to him to see if he could shed some more light.

Oh, if i could i would :D

Edit, sorry it was a Monaro

if only.....

phil had a monaro not a vxr8 :)

i think they are both awesome though :D

the VXR8 is Vauxhall trying to pretend that they do something (anything) more with a Holden Monaro than import it and make any necessary changes to meet UK C&U regs.

GET ONE!!!!!!!!! I've been in a VXR8, what a car. For something like £40k brand new, you get ALOT of car for your money. It will give a V8 M5 a run for its money.
