Replace fuel flap

Featured Replies

I've managed to break the fuel flap in half on my red Oct '06 VRS.

I've looked on the search facility without any dice... two questions (maybe with a sub question)

1. Anyone got a clue what the part number is for the fuel flap door? Will it need spraying?

2. Anyone got an idea how to fit this? I'm clueless sadly...

Rob

I replaced mine after it seemed to just snap during a particularly cold day. I get a feeling somebody had tried to open it when closed as it was around the high fuel price time so never mind.

Anyway.

1) I have it at home on the old box so will post it up for you later.

- Yes it needs respraying

- It's not just the door it's the door, the rubber around the fuel cap etc

- You might also need another part which is where the lock slides through.

2) Have a search as I've posted it on here before and if you can't find it i'll dig out the info again.

Basically you need

- A torx screwdriver to remove the bag holder in the boot.

- You then need to undo the carpet in the back and slacken off the locking pin that locks the fuel cap which is behind the storage net area. (Phillips screwdriver)

- 90 degree allen key to remove the tube that the lock pin runs up and down. Turn it then pull it out from the fuel cap side.

- A set of plastic trim removal tools to prize out the old surround.

Fitting is the reverse of this and you must make sure you tape the fuel drain pipe to something and push it through the new rubber or you will lose it in the rear quarter which is a pain.
