wheel bearings - do you think?

Featured Replies

2nd owner and coming up to 90k on a 55 plate - service due next week.

starting to hear a high pitched shrieking noise - and it is not my wife on this occasion - coming from the front right wheel - or that region. it is a harsh/grinding metallic sound

noise is emitted pretty much only when the car is just started up and when it is turning to the right. after 5 or so minutes on the road it seems to stop and poses no problem.

my wife is generally using the car for commuting at the moment and she says that it has gotten worse this week however i had noticed it once or twice previously but just though 'let's leave it until the service' - now due in 500 miles. i suggested that my wife simply goes to and from work by turning left however she explained that this may well mean she is not home from work until after 8pm ..... and i thought this wheel brearing thing could be a problem .....

thanks for any ideas, as ever

Most likely to be the brake pads and discs, or you could have a CV joint end going, is it a constant metal grind or does it sound like a clacking noise?
