In the last week week or two i have attempted to engage the cruise control and it hasnt worked. no light on the dash. if i take my foot off the loud control the car slows down.

the CC control switch is in the enabled position, but the rocker switch does nothing.

Stopping the engine and restarting it 'cures' the problem.

Anyone else experienced this?

It's the stalk. Try searching the forum.. there's hundreds of threads on it. I happen to be experiencing the same problem right now (booked in for warranty work next month).

You'll probably find it gets worse (i.e. restarting doesn't help), to the point where, like mine, it wont come on at all.

It's very common, and easily cured using Isopropyl alcohol.

This is also a symptom of the first stage of limp-home-mode (in which case the air-con will also stop working). The second stage is EML light on and reduced power.

We've had it twice; once the underlying cause was a faulty steering column ECU, and the other I can't remember.

Yes and the dealer fixed it in a few minutes (under warranty)

Still don't know the reason of the problem but ok since then.

Does this problem generate any fault codes that the dealer can pick up? Being intermittant i dont want to go to the dealer and they say that they cant find any problem.

It generated a fault code in mine. I would certainly try fixing it yourself first though, it's a very easy job.
