Just Ordered my 1.6tdi cr Elegance

I wonder what the 1.4 will be like on hills. I have found in the past smaller capacity engines struggle on hills, and find it hard to maintain a constant speed, whereas bigger displacement seem to cope better.

You only need to look at the power/torque figures to realise. The 1.9 TDI has a max bhp of 105 at 4000rpm, the 1.4 TSi has 122 bhp at 5000rpm. As to torque, the 1.9 TDI has 250Nm at 1900rpm and the 1.4TSi has 200Nm between 1500 and 4000rpm.

The 1.9 TDI has a top speed of 119mph and 0-62 of 11.8 secs. The 1.4 TSi has a top speed of 126mph and a 0- 62 of 9.7 secs

To dismiss your doubts, try one and be amazed.
