Great North Air Ambulance Motor Show - 18th & 19th July

Featured Replies

A marshalling mate of mine, Colin Toner, is trying to organise a motor show on 18/19 July. He is after Vintage/Classic, Sports, Custom, Race/Rally, Kit and Fun cars or bikes. It will be held Dormans Athletic Club, Oxford Road, Middlesbrough.

His brother a few years ago was killed in a motorcycle collision, only ten minutes from the finishing line of the Boundary 500, an annual fundraising ride around the Great North Air Ambulance's boundary area.

Anyone interested?

Jim , I might be for the saturday , sunday is the modified show at Croft

If we could get a few of us for a club stand then might be worth asking the GNAA if they wanna put their octy vRS response car on it lol

I e-mailed him for any more info, mentioned this thread and Croft and got a response.

There are no entry fees for exhibitors, Public is £2 Adults, Free for under 15s (accompanied only), Sorry no Pets allowed. The show will open to the public 11am to 5pm Sat/Sun.

Some of the modified clubs or coming to the show Friday night showing Sat and leaving for Croft Sun morning. Free camping on Fri/Sat nights, Evening entertainment from local bands in the club. Food available all day and evening.

Here's the link to this event on GNAA website http://www.greatnorthairambulance.co.uk/pages/events/detail/eventid=75 It includes his e-mail address for more info. I don't know the rules on here about publishing people addresses so it's on that link. If you do e-mail him, he will send you some flyers to publicise the event. All he needs to know is what vehicle you are bringing and if you need to camp. Or if you are a club. If you need your own area and how many vehicles/campers.

The more people who know about the show the more money you help raise for the air ambulance.

I spoke to Colin as I was leaving Croft on Sunday, he said unfortunatly the fast response vehicle is busy that weekend, but the helicopter will be there along with some interesting cars. I've posted about this show on SCN to see if there is any interest there.

Unfortunately on Saturday it's my mothers 60th Birthday BBQ bash which I must not miss. I don't know whether we are staying over or to go to Croft or this show on Sunday. I heard from someone else that at Croft there is going to be wet T-shirt competitions, girls in "Skimpy" clothing, oh and some cars as well ;)

Me & Thurlby are gonna be there sunday jim if u wanna join us & anyone else if they fancy

The answer was no. I was invited to another party on Sunday afternoon. I got back late last night so I did not reply to your question. I did wonder about going to the 250cc Kart GP at Cadwell, but decided both it and Croft may happen next year but a House warming will not.

I hope you and others had a good time at Croft. Will we see you all in 2 weeks in Middlesbrough for this show?

Not me i,m afraid weekend on at work

I think, I will go on Sunday as looking at the forecast the weather looks poo on Sat. www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/ne_forecast. I am not showing as my rear bumper looks a bit of a mess. Last weekend I spoke to Colin again and he said there is some interesting cars coming along a very expensive Lambo, an original RS200 and AC Cobra and the smallest and longest Land Rover in the world. The Helicopter will also be there.

The address of the place is

Dormans Club

Oxford Road

Linthorpe

Middlesbrough

TS5 5DT

Website: Dorman Long U.A.C.

It seams quite hard to find, but I'm sure if you put the postcode into Multimap or Google Maps or even the modern way Sat nav, you will find it.

That was a very good afternoon at the show. They had a good turn out of cars, old an new and the good weather helped as well. There was an original Lamborghini Miura which was believed to be ex René Arnoux (old F1 driver). a good turn out for the North East RS Owners club, Porsche Owners club, TVRs, minis, Skyline Owners club and many more.

The helicopter was there, but had to leave for a call out at about 1:30 pm, but their fast response Octavia vRS stayed.
