Learn From My Problems Pt 2

Day 2 - More balls ups, aggro and inefficiency

Just thought I'd let you know about what happened with my car today following on from my last post.

Called garage to check both coil packs had been fitted as requested from Skoda.

Garage - Yes sir we have fitted the coil pack

Me - What do you mean THE coil pack.

Garage - The faulty one has been replaced under warranty.

Me - No Skoda asked you to replace all of them, but know you have only 2 in stock.

Garage - No that's not what we do

So called Skoda and said that they had better talk to this shower of idiots immediately

Skoda call me back. No problem - taken care of.

Garage call me to say car is done finally.

I call Skoda to tell them to instruct AA to bring my car back.

Skoda tell me to call AA to authorise it myself. I do.

AA say - Yes sir we know we delivered your car but i'm afraid we can't get it back to you, not in our contract.

Me - Is this some kind of fXXXXXg joke, it wasn't April 1st last time I looked

AA - Sorry not in our agreement with Skoda

I call Skoda and say, get it sorted, me customer, you make car with crap bits on, me no car, me well inconvenienced, me plenty bloody pXXXXd off.

Skoda - Ok Sir we''ll get the garage to bring it back to you.

They then call back and say, garage won't do it, you're on your own, sorry that's all we can do.

Me - I go mental and say, so how do you expect me to get car back now, as it is 25 miles away, do I walk or hitchhike??

Skoda - Sorry nothing else we can do

So I said I will be writing to the MD of Skoda UK, a nice letter explaining how, a manufacturing defect has cost me nearly

For friggin out loud, that garage you had to deal with should be rebranded as an estate agent! Please, give us the name or location of this place so we can treat it with appropriate caution...

Needless to say that I am a might ****ed off with the ****e service I have been given all round for a problem that clearly lies firmly at the door of Skoda UK!!

Rant Over !!!

 :321:

Still at least you have your health.

*PHEW! what a complete balls-up. :(

I hope that we'll all get an (even more) graphic breakdown of what happened here next Sunday, just to forewarn all other owners who may end up in the same situation.

As it happens I rang my dealer to ask about the brakes/filler cap, and they've asked me to pop in on the 28th to take a look, but the dealer also, like a few people in here said, suggested I attacked the filler cap with WD-40. Hopefully that'll help. Perhaps some at the NEC meet could look at my brake discs to see if there is evidence of "squealing" on the surface. I may not have to visit the dealer at all.

PS Dealer said sometimes a calliper gets stuck on one side, so that one side does all the braking. Sounds a bit dodgy to me, but I'm sure someone will be able to help on week, Sunday :D

The garage in question was All Electric Garages in Sutton Coldfield.

U have been warned

PS - Like the new look site chaps

Sorry to hear of your ongoing problems funkyj. It's a shame that the service from dealers seems to be so variable across the country. I'm sure that my dealer would never leave me in such a position as they are really hot on customer service.

When I popped in on Monday to see if someone could have a look and see why my radio wasn't working a mechanic spent a good half hour investigating the problem before coming to the conclusion that it was a head unit fault and not a wiring issue. No problem , no charge - and it's not a Skoda radio.

I get the impression that this wouldn't have happened at the dealer in question !
