auto-locking upset by selective locking - can it be solved?

Featured Replies

Having just got my licensed VAG-COM, I thought that I would switch on the auto-locking (anti car-jacking where doors lock at 15kph or similar) and also the auto unlocking (doors unlock when key removed from ignition) and my good lady thinks it is great. I then saw how to activate selective locking (drivers door unlocks on first press on remote, second press does the other doors) by recoding the softcode from 00067 to 00066 within module 46. She has this feature on her car and would like it on the Furbi.

However this has resulted in the auto-unlock when the key is removed from the ignition only operating on the drivers door. Is it possible to have the remote giving selective unlocking and the auto-unlocking when removing the key from the ignition activating all doors/tailgate? Does anyone know to achieve this? Any help would be appreciated as the selective unlocking via the remote is quite attractive at night in the city.

NB I have searched the Forum but I have not found this particular issue addressed.

At first looking at this, I'd think that you are backing a loser (but someone might prove me wrong!), the selective locking and auto locking will be considered a selectable "security" feature that would normally always go "hand in hand" - what you seem to be wanting is the convenience of one with the security of the other. I'd reckon that the first "level" of security would be "selective unlocking" and the "auto unlocking" is the next security "level" up - you seem to want "level 2" security without "level 1" security. The only other question is, does your car have the same convenience modules etc as your wife's car?

I believe (but could be wrong) that the automatic unlock when you take the key out of the ignition will only unlock the same doors as were opened when you unlocked the car.

i.e. 1 press = drivers door unlocks, you get in, drive away and the doors lock. When you take the key out, only the drivers door will unlock as that's the only door that you unlocked before driving.

Yes shark_90's right. It'll only unlock those that were/have been opened.

SMStext had some issues when he coded his in that he (iirc) always opened all doors regardless, which obv defets the point of using the one door unlock.

Thanks guys for your input. It may seem that I want my cake and eat it but....

in answer to your thoughts, this is what happens:

unlock selectively all doors by double clicking the remote

driver and passengers enter car

pull away and all doors lock automatically

stop car, on removing key only drivers door unlocks

It is frustrating as by the time I am removing the key everyone else in the car is trying to get out and needs to be aware of the need to double pull on the door handles (and not break them!) or I need to be quick and operate the manual switch on the door or the remote. Also yesterday on parking I had to unlock the back door before I could get something off the seat. It is one of those irritating things! As it stand unless someone has a fix it looks like my wife will have to choose between auto lock/unlock or selective unlocking.

It would be great if the key removal unlock did match the scope of the auto locking or the previous remote unlocking.

cheers

Speak to SMStext or search for his posts from when he did it.

It seems you can overide each unlock type and set whatever you like when the key is removed. One coding WILL match the unlock and key removal.
