hi

replacement rim quoted at 288 euros plus tva

guess i have a scratched tyre for the future

for my info what is the uk price quoted by skoda uk

thanks for any info

Don't know what they are called in UK, but over in Germany they have what is called a "felgendoktor" - "wheel doctor".

I was quoted 40 euros last year to repair an alloy wheel. A lot cheaper than the 288 quoted by Skoda:thumbup:

They basically sand it down a bit and then respray it and it looks as good as new. People do it themselves as well, but you could easily make a mess of it, so I personally would use an expert every time.

With a quick search on Google you should find a few companies who will repair the wheel and also a wheel repair kit from Halfords : Halfords Alloy Wheel Repair Kit from Halfords Price £29.99

Some repairers want you to take the wheel to them to remove the type and strip it down completely and others are mobile and come out to you. I've never had alloys before so haven't used any of them myself and I'm not sure how good they are at matching the paint/finish with the original.

the wheel should be repairable.

Best advise is to take the wheel off the car and to a body shop. They will bake the paint dry in an oven. the mobile units tend to replace the wheel whilst the paint is still soft and so if you are not careful, the finish can be a lot poorer.

I've had both repairs done and will go bodyshop every time. Similar costs too.
