ABS problems

Featured Replies

Hello, I don't know a great deal about cars so please bear with me here.

The car: Fabia Comfort 1.4 petrol 16v 2000/2001 58k on clock

The problems:

The CEL light has been on for some time. Dealer says need new piston rings, local garage laughed socks off and said is sensor near inlet manifold getting clogged and as long as not burning oil or losing power not to worry too much.

ABS and Power steering light came on a couple of weeks ago after topping up tyres, took into local garage who say that it needs a new ABS pump modulator. New price Approx £1k. Sent bits off to be reconditioned but came back with same fault. Think reconditioners did the computer module not the actual block.

Can't find a second hand / reconditioned pump anywhere.

Any ideas / suggestions please?

Take it to a garage that know what they are doing. ABS faults can be traced with plug in diagnostics. CEL light is an MOT fail so that side of things will need sorted as well.

Really? Just checking, but is that the one shaped like an engine?

To the OP; you say the tyres were topped up. Do you mean reinflated or changed - because if they were changed and the sizes differ (i.e. back smaller and vice versa) this could cause the ABS light.

The ABS fault was traced to the modulator.

The tyres were not changed just topped up the pressure.
