sony xplod mp3 player

Featured Replies

hi all installed the above head unit this evening!

trouble that i am getting now is that when i turn off the ingnition and take key out, and then head into the house!! after about 5 mins i come back and put the head unit on it has lost all the stuff that i set ie. radio and sound functions. :thumbdwn:

so i put red cable into the yellow bit which is supposed to create i live feed all the time, but it still does it

on the orignal hu it had 3 block connectors, 1 being in 3 colours for different parts of it! is that needed?

just cant seem to get it to hold any memory once key is out of the ignition!!

thanks for your time

chris

thats great mate thanks

on the sony iso you get one red wire with bullet connector and yellow with the same!

which if that way round stereo is dead!

but if you add red into the double bullet bit with yellow stereo works!

but the hu does not keep memory!!

can you not buy a kit that just plugs and and save all the hassle?

does halfords have such an item?

just that i have swapped red and yellow over and still the same!

and dont wanna muck about to much as i aint good at all that stuff and i will have to call 999 when it goes bank lol

all sorted..... thanks to my  local skoda!!

turns out that a fuse was blown thats what why i could only get it to work one way!

 <----- at me for not checking

something else he told me before i left, was that if i was thinking of putting an amp in the car that i should better not as i can muck up the engine management system on the car????

that true?

just that on the site i have seen plenty of you guys with amps etc etc in your cars!

cheers all

chris

Exactly how would an amp screw up the ECU? Not true I'd say... At the end of the day it connects to the battery and your head unit nowt else so the only connection is via the battery. I think there are more electrically noisey things in the engine bay that would kill the ECU with transients etc than an amp would in the boot...

am i right in thinking that using the VW Harness Adaptor (PC2-69-4) removes the kline problem?

Dont use the harness adaptor... just remove the relevant lead from the loom on your sony head unit... I think its the blue antenna wire that you need to cut ;)

That vag-com thing screws the VAG tool not the car!:D

without the harness adaptor the positives are switched so the stereo loses its memory when the ignition is switched off. if i dont use it then i have to start hacking the wires and switching them, which i definately dont want to do

Depends what HU you buy mate... SOny et al have bullet connectors in the switched and permanent wires to enable you to flip them over in the head units loom with no need for hacking.. Granted some head units have the ISO built into the back of the unit so you would need the adaptor but quite a lot dont require it:)

yeah thats all i did! you add the yellow into the red red into yellow and hey presto it keeps memory!

could not get it to work that way and after all it was a fuse! changed the fuse and everything worked!

just that amp thing bothered me! he said adding them to a vag car can do damage to the management system?? " aye ok mate what ever you say"

funny how i aint heard anyone say anything like that!

then he got on his high horse and told me he knew more than me, and how that you could not jump start the skoda because loads of faults came up after you do it lol?

so you batt goes flat! what the hell do you do??

ask the aa to find you a big hill lol
