Octavia's rear fog light

Featured Replies

Hello

How many fog lights are in the rear? one or two? Some people say only 1 bulb some others say 2.. i am confused. My octavia has 2 bulbs but only one rear fog light is working.

If the car has only one rear fog light ( i think thats the case) why the other side has a bulb then ?

One, the offside one. It is possible using VCDS to code the second one into operation though,

As mannyo says it can poss be enabled by VCDS but if its like my sons (52Plate)there

was not even a wire to the 2nd lamp (bulb yes) so wired across boot and no problem, but

it is a 2005 model

what is VCDS ?

VCDS is the new name for Vag-Com.

You may need to use the wiring route posted by RADIOTWO, there is a guide on here somewhere on how to carry out the required mods to get both working.

My Jan 2007 vRS had a bulb in the second fog light holder and was all wired up - just didn't come on.

One of the members here enabled it for me via VCDS while we were trying to sort out another problem.

It's strange that they go through all the work of wiring and even inserting a bulb just to have the second light switched off.

*Ignore* - Wrong forum

I just ran a new wire from the working side to the not working side, and attached it to the plug for the fog light bulb, and hey presto, 2 fog lights - much easier than trying to get re-programmed etc....only took a few minutes

Err that's strange! My car has 2 working rear fog lights, and they've not been fiddled with as far as I know. Odd...

So does mine. 52 Reg Mk1 Octy vRS.

My 53reg Octavia Estate only had a O/S rear fog lamp too. The wiring for the N/S fog lamp was there, and even a bulbholder. All I had to do was fit a 382 bulb and cut a hole in the light lens for it to fit through. I now have two rear fog lamps.....
