Brake Dust more on right than left wheel??

Hi All

Been away for a bit covering 1000 of miles, so my Octy vRS has seen some action lately...

I was checking my tyre pressures this afternoon and noticed that there was loads more break dust on the drivers side than the passenger side. Has anyone else noticed this?

Any ideas appritiated... Will pay a visit to my local specialist next week.

Sticky caliper piston or slide, making the pads still contact the disc. I had this on my old car the other week. What first drew my attention to it was the smell of hot brakes, followed by more brake dust on one wheel than the other, with one wheel being quite hot.

Hey, thanks for the propt reply. Hadnt thought of that, just assumed it was the passenger side not working. lol

Not noticed any smelling though... Going to go give the breaks a hard time on some roundabouts... Clean the wheels off and see if that fixes it.

Either you don't clean your N/S wheel (the dirty one), but that's unlikely or as mentioned it is a sticking caliper.

That reminds me my dad has the same problem, one of his is sticking on the Scoobie. We found this out coming home from Blyton after using the brakes hard, there was a lot more heat coming from one side than the other, it just so happens to be N/S as well.

Drivers side brakes have more work to do, due to the portly gentleman operating the vehicle........;)

You're also more likely to drive through puddles with the passenger side so the water rinses off the brake dust.

Your probably right, nothing to worry about. Gave the brakes a good test this morning from 70mph and it drove and stopped strait, must be a good sign. Im wondering though if the previous owner fitter different pads on each side...

That gets my vote, I'm chubby

I don't notice more dust and my brakes work fine but when I changed the pads the left one had a bit of meat left on it and the right was almost down to the metal.

That is doubly worrying since the sensor is on the left side.
