Ok, not an octavia but I thought it might be one for the 20v chaps :P

Is this boost pipe from a BAM engine or a specific car?

And while I'm on, does anyone know if the AUM is DBW.

And last but not least, does the K04 bolt on to the K03s manifold or does it need a new one, and is it much better than the K03s?

AUM is definately DBW.

And i beleive you'll need a different manifold for a K04, and from what i've read, it probably isn't worth the cost/effort over keeping the K03s.

Unsure on anything else though, sorry.

The 225 TT quattro has that exact same top boost pipe (I went to look at buying one the other day, but remembered that I'm not a hairdresser!). So I guess it's specific to that platform.

The K04 needs a different exhaust manifold to the K03. Plus a whole load of other stuff. Better off looking at an aftermarket solution if you want more bang for your buck!

yup, seen it on 225 LCRs too

As already said, thats a boost pipe from the K04 turbo (TT225, S3, LCR etc...).

The K04 Turbo will not fit the K03s manifold.

Whether the K03s or K04 is better depends on what your starting with and how far you want to go. The K03s seems to max out at 240-250, while the K04 seems to max out at 280-290.

But the most important question is? Can i buy that MK1 :D:D:D:D

The down side is that Mk1 has no roof :( its a fake Mk1 :P But on the upside I'm building a real one :D, I just really like the way that boost pipe sits in the bay, neatens it up a bit and keeps that OEM look, I'll need to looksee if it fits on the 03s.

QPEng are quoting 230 with their map for the AUM with K03s, I think with around 800 kilos that should be enough to be honest.

how is that enough when 500bhp is possible?

Im my job i have learnt one thing for sure. Nothing is enough, lol.

You get a maxed out K03s and think, wow, thats great.

2 month later you want more, and fit a K04 and max that out,

Then you want more, save up lots, fit an IHI or GT. Then you want more, save up much more and fit a huge turbo...

Then your wife divorces you, takes the kids and house :(

But feck it, you have a massively quick car you can sleep in :D

I noticed on others they have bolt down coil packs, is that a later revision or from a different engine too?

I can tell you that has either a K03 or K03s turbo, not the K04 as fitted to the Golf at the top of the page.

Bolt down coil packs are from earlier cars like the AGU and APX engines.

the K04 001 fits the original manifold what i`ve heard. i`m gonna fit on on my vrs1.

waste of money.

was gonna fit a g60 lump (turbo'd) in my mk1, however i think the 20vt is an easier more tuneable route.

Garry....want my mk1.....its a project but at least you know its a proper 1...hard top in black an all!
