Anyone have a pic of a race blue RS with Colour code grill?

Featured Replies

No - it's still definitely an Octavia

Sorry mate I have only owned 2 (Octy's that is) I have trouble telling them apart from Superbs . Can someone try this with an LE :D:D:D just showed SWMBO and she thought you chaps a tad mad, I like the look though.

What - she doesn't understand why we do it - and she thinks we're mad ????

I've been tempted to give the passat the colour coding treatment but im afraid it will look naff when its done

Colour coding looks fantastic on any colour. They don't have any chrome anywhere else on the car, then this big garish chrome grill supprond on the front - yeuk. Double yeuk on a vRS.

The only mod I intend to make to my lowly 2.0 TDI is colour code the grill (black in my case).

Thats where photoshop is your friend to give you an idea :D

Quick question guys. Did you rememove the Skode Badge before you sprayed the grill or did you just mask it up? If you did remove it how did you do it?

Cheers.

P.S getting it sprayed tomorrow!

the first time I bought a new grille and new badge.

The second time I removed the badge with a hairdryer and thin blunt knife but it didnt come off very well so bought a new one.

If youre taking one off a grille thats come off the car then youll have to remove the plastic notch thats in the centre of the back of the badge as well as the glue that sticks it to the grille.

failing all that if youre really good at masking then leave it on and spray around it :)

If I prise it off it will dent at the edges, so dose anyone have a part number for a replacement badge and a grill in case I decide I need one or the other

Cheers

More than likely

so does anyone have a part number for a replacement badge and a grill in case I decide I need one or the other

Don't know part numbers, but if you're on a Mk 2 Octy the badge will need to be 9cm diameter, as opposed to 8cm. You can find them on ebay, but not a huge amount less than your local dealer. If you bid on ebay, check the size beforehand. I also picked up a new grille set off ebay.

its possible it will bend, yo could try fishing wire instead of a knife to get it off. I still have my new badge here and the number on it is "3U0 853 621 B MEL". Not sure if thats the part number though sorry. cost £13 when i got it !

Plenty of masking tape and "CAREFULLY" cut round it with a scalpel.

Make sure you key the hell out of the chrome surround though or the paint just will not stick. Mine was Keyed, Primed, Painted and Lacquered (in that order in case you were wondering :D :P )
