Rear Courtesy Lights

Featured Replies

Does anyone have rear courtesy lights in their Octavia that come on when the door is opened?

On my 53 plate Elegance they could one be switched on manually at the lamp itself. I have run an extra wire to them so that they light when the doors are open, but this means that they can no longer be switched on independently.

Just wondering if they were all like that, or if some had a three position switch like the front one so that I can retrofit a set.

I've got an Elegance too marra, and mine are the same, they push to light them.

Mine come on with the doors. But I fitted them myself :)

IIRC they take their control from the front setting.

Mine had on full or off (same as front setting) on the Mk1 elegance IIRC.

Thanks Rob. They are the same as mine, and work the same as mine now that I've modified the wiring.

I've seen posts from other people talking about the rear courtesy lights coming on with the doors, so I was wondering if any Octy 1s left the factory with different rear lights with 3 position switches or if the others have done the same as you and I.

If the car came with them as standard they will only light up when you switch them independantly. I have fitted mine and control them as per Rob by wiring up to the front curtesy light so they come on with the doors open. A few folks have modified the wiring to allow both independant switching and door opening. Seems to much hard work for me..

If someone wishes to donate instructions for both I would have a go.
