New to VAGCOM - Heater Problems

Featured Replies

Hi guys!

I've just got vagcom, which i've been able to use to diagnose a camshaft position sensor error and saved myself £130 by fitting the part myself!

Now my heater is starting to play up.

What its doing - Heater occassionally decides to go as hot as possible, other times it decides to go as cold as possible. Also, the fan speed knob does not work on speeds 1 & 2, but it does work on 3 & 4.

What VAGCOM says -

01271 - Positioning Motor for Temperature Flap (V68)

30-10 - Open or Short to B+ - Intermittent

01596 - Motor for Outside/Recirculated Air Flap (V154)

30-10 - Open or Short to B+ - Intermittent

01271 - Positioning Motor for Temperature Flap (V68)

29-10 - Short to Ground - Intermittent

01271 - Positioning Motor for Temperature Flap (V68)

28-10 - Short to B+ - Intermittent

01596 - Motor for Outside/Recirculated Air Flap (V154)

41-10 - Blocked or No Voltage - Intermittent

01596 - Motor for Outside/Recirculated Air Flap (V154)

29-10 - Short to Ground - Intermittent

01596 - Motor for Outside/Recirculated Air Flap (V154)

Can anyone help me here? Is it easy to replace the motors or is it a dash-out job?

Has anyone encountered these problems before?

No operation in some positions of the heater switch is quite a common fault. There is a resistor pack attached to the heater motor ,which is behind the glove box. The resistor pack consists of three resistors ,tapped to give four speeds. In position '1' all three resistors are in series, with the battery supply ,giving the slowest speed. In position '2 ' two sections are in series. In position '3 ' ,one resistor is in series. The full 12 volts is directly connected to the motor in position '4' giving maximum speed.

As yours is working in position '3',and '4' you have a break in the pack ,between connection '2' and '3'. You have to change the whole pack. It might be worth checking the switch contacts.

We have a similar problem. Thanks for the answer!

Thanks guys! I've replaced the resistor pack and the fan is now working perfectly on all speeds!

Now for the flap motors...

While replacing the resistor pack i noticed the recirc flap motor (v154) is easy to replace (close to passenger door), however i'm not sure where the temperature flap motor (v68) is located. My local dealer says that its prob a dash-out job to replace it?!? Does anyone have any experience of this or give me any advice??

The flap motors (esp the temp flap motor) have been getting progressively worse over the past weeks and i'd love to get them replaced asap. Any help would be much appreciated.

Ok, to revive an old topic...my recirc button will not go out...a trusty Skoda tech ran a scan for me and I need to replace the V154 recirc flap motor is there a guide anywhere on how easy (or not) this is to do? Any help appreciated...
