Thought I should put a post out to say hello after picking up an Octavia II today.

Its only taken a few years to buy one since registering on here.

Its a 2005, 54 plate 2.0 TDI Elegance hatch... I know this post is useless without pics, but its dark out now.

Very happy so far, hopefully that will continue. Only one fault I have noticed so far, that being the ESP won't switch on. Is this likely to be a ABS sensor at fault, or more major ?

What do you mean, it won't switch on? It's on unless the skiddy warning light is illuminated on the instrument cluster.

When I start the car, the skiddy warning light is on, the ESP button is iluminated saying its off, but pressing it does sod all to turn it on, so its always off.

Did you buy it privately or from a dealer. If the latter, I'd get them to sort it. If it was a private deal, get it scanned as soon as possible by a nearby member for fault codes with VCDS / VAG-COM.

Bought it from an independant dealer, but took it sold as seen. Anyone around Newcastle/Durham area with a fault code reader ?

Might phone a dealer tomorrow to see if they can scan it to see if its a sensor or something.
