Quick vote on thoughts for a company car

(Elegance estate)

I guess the balance is performance Vs tax.

Currently have a 2.0TDI L&K , so 0-60 will be similar with the 1.4...

Thoughts - however random appreciated :D

Ta!

Well for me Im afraid I look at tunability of the engine. The 1.8TSI remaps to almost remapped VRS levels so that would get the thumbs up from me.

You did say you didnt mind 'random' ! ;)

Added a poll to see if that gives an indication too.

Don't know if you've read any of the other threads on here regarding the low availability and long wait times for all Skodas fiitted with the 1.4TSI engine?

If you need to place a factory order for a 1.4TSI right now, then you are looking at a very long wait (of around 16 weeks, or more). Supposedly the log-jam should be cleared around September-time, so if you're in no great hurry to order these delays may not affect you.

I think the poll would be better suited to when both units are freely available for potential customers to assess . At present you'd have trouble finding a 1.4 TSi to even test drive.

The Golf of course takes the 1.4 only, be it turbocharged only or twincharged.

My vote is for the 1.4 - surely the comapny car tax is greatly reduced compared to the 1.8?

If you need to test drive one the Winchester dealership has one, I borrowed it for a Saturday a few weeks back (albeit through a more local dealer).

Thanks for the comments so far.

Yes I have seen the availability issues, but wasn't after any factory options, and the lease co are happy to quote for it as a replacement, so they may have stock at one of their stealer branches.

From what I can see, it's a really close call, and will probably be decided by 'girls choice' based on the availability of the right colour :)

1.4 is a great engine, but I think I'd plump for the 1.8 on grounds of it feeling more muscular and being more tunable, with little sacrifice in economy.

i would stick with the 2.0tdi. better fuel consumption especially now petrol is the same price as diesel also better torque ie 320 Nm against 200Nm for 1.4tsi.

Isn't co. car tax just silly for petrol engines vs. diesel?

Steve

Just had a look and the co. car tax on a 1.4 is tiny!

Steve

We've just ordered a 1.8 Elegance Estate for the missus. The potential of the remap did it for me, it was more power when laden with kiddie stuff for her.
