Poor Midrange Performance

Featured Replies

The wife's 24000 mile 1.4 16v Auto is hesitant between 1800-3000. i.e. if you're in say a 40mph area at constant throttle it feels like a mild misfire. Over 3000 it runs as well as can be expected from its 75bhp (why only 75 not 100 on the auto?)

Dealer says it's the adaptive gearbox technology and her driving style. I don't buy that, but they don't even open the bonnet nowadays, just plug in the box and say nothing's wrong but the diagnostics box can't replicate real driving loads.

Any other ideas anyone?

And please, no p!$$ taking about autos, some of us need them.

Could be just about anything as no fault codes have been logged. Primer suspect would be EGR valve/gasket(s). Might just be torque convertor losses you are feeling though, 75BHP driving an auto box isn't ideal.

Dirty throttle body perhaps? Experience hesitation on my Octy vRS so gave it a good clean with carb cleaner which solved it.
