I traded it for this techno trash. I dropped it again as I went in the shop and the side fell off as well so it had too go.

No amount of tape would have fixed that blow. :o

Care to explain why you think that?

Actually I'm joking .................

It's not as bad as I first thought.

It's well built and solid, it does have a very steep learning curve though which unless you're tech savvy could make a grown man weep.

It does have some very good potential if it's backed up by nokia, which at the moment it isn't although I am told this being addressed. The OVI store is a little lacking as far a apps are concerned.

The main issue that seems to be annoying people is the networking issues, it can't seem to make it's mind up if it's connected to the net, and it does like too be connected too keep the widgets working and updated. It does like too default too your 3G connection rather tahn wifi, which I'm still trying to get too the bottom of,

Battery life is ok if you knock the widgets off when not in use, if it's connecting though it does give the battery a good pasting.

There is a firmware out but it still isn't avaliable for UK handsets, I'm told this is a nokia uk staff issue, as in they are useless lazy feckers who don't sign off FW's as quick as european staff ;););) Theres another due at the end of August

It does need this firmware asap as there are a few niggles with the lock button and the random lock ups which have happened albeit not many times for me personally.

I'll give it an 8 out 10 for now until the firmware comes out here.:D:D:D:D

HTH

Tbh, I'm not surprised, been reading a number of reviews of the N97 and the general consensus does seem to be "Could, and perhaps should, have been better".

Guess I'll stick with my N95 for now.

3GS ftw!!!!:D

Keep ya piephone outta my thread :rofl::rofl:

Nokia UK always release the phone with firmware that isn't quite there, but then there is only so much that lab testing can pick up.

The networks having their own versions of the firmware doesn't help either.

I agree, it must a nightmare collating all the bugs and trying to smooth them out:(:(

If like the N96, then hidden away is a "use as preference" type option for net access. Setup wifi connections, and move them up the list. It'll then use these first if available.

Also each app can then overide this too, and yes there's more hidden options for these too (under apps or security IIRC)

It is like that ...sort of. except as far as I can tell it still does what it wants too do :confused::confused:

I think quite a few people are having the same fun.

It would be easier to have a menu for internet access each time an app goes online.

The priorities setting don't seem too make any difference atm.

You can set it to always ask before going online. All my data requests get asked, same as on my N95, but there are a lot more hidden away that need finding and changing.

:):):)

Tell me about it :rolleyes::rolleyes:

I've read a few reviews of the n97now and the consensus seems to be don't bother just get the 5800 instead..

Glad i bought the C905 now instead of waiting for the N97.

Its a shame though as it has potential to be a very good phone, but software always seems to hold Nokias back.

:iagree:
