Powder wheels

Featured Replies

After driving my car 356miles (from new) understandably a lot of brake dust has built up, and looking at the wheels with it on makes me think that having the alloys darkened or resprayed a light grey may look rather nice with the black body work...

does n e one know of n e proffesional places that can do this and perhaps have samples

cheers

I had my Senator's alloys sand-blasted, chemically cleaned then powder coated by Conqueror in Royston. If you look in the Links section, you should find other firms which can do the job for you.

Was thinking of getting mine powder coated, a friend allways has his bike wheels done at a place in Tamworth (cant remember name). Was thinking about going for a dark grey as well. Let you know if I get pricing info.

Personally I think dark wheels are a bit to much against a dark paintwork. Dark wheels work better as a contast to a bright colour, Take Graeme's Fabia for exapmle. The main reason I changed my Cupra alloys on my car is they just look to dark, the brighter silver looks alot better I think.

But then thats a personal viewpoint.

My wife shares your viewpoint. She keeps on commenting how my alloys look filthy... which they probably are, but with the anthracite coating, I don't care

There is a cheaper solution than getting brand new wheels re-coated...

Take them off the car, clean them properly, then apply a good coating of wheel protector or even wax (mine are Swissol'd )

When you clean them, use normal car shampoo (Halfords works for me) or if they're really grotty, use MC2 (contact Wax Wizard Mark) and a power washer.

Mine come up like new every time :)

Agreed, Turtle Wax works wonders.

I did exactly the some with those TT wheels you got for me Ross.

I'm sure DaveU or Jimmy can confirm they still look as good as new :)

Got a silver car, so dark grey wheels would look good........ ;) and if you have scuffs and scrapes on the poweder coat then it's easy to repair.

Was thinking about this a couple of days ago.... what about disk covers to stop the dust I know a few years ago (about 10) my boss had some on a Granada with some five spokes they allways looked good.... I know people said that it would heat the disks up but he never had an issue... depnds on the driving
