Arrrgggggghhhhhhhhhhhh!!

Featured Replies

have broken down twice in last week and half, first time no power at all, just cut out (and on the M25 junction too which no fun!!) and all electrics failed, including hazards which made it a rather frightening expereince.

Breakdown guy came, changed a fuse in the fuse box, and connected it to a booster pack and all was well and drove off happy until today when it cut out again in middle of very busy road, no wanring, just stopped! This time I had electrics so hazards, but when breakdown guy came said the battery was totally flat. Yet when he started it with booster and tested the charge he said was charing fine, so not sure what was the cause.

could be intermittant fault on alternator was only thing he could come up with.

Anyone any ideas of what could be before I have a new one fitted (I'm so broke no idea how can afford to do this! :( ) or is that the only possible reason?

On another topic, been trying to get replacement electric window motors, dealer wants £170 for one! Tried various breakeryard online services but been couple months now and all the ones that have answers then fail to turn up and when I call to find out why they say they took them off and realised they were damaged so couldn't send them, anyone know where I can get some that won't break the bank and will actually tun up?!

and also a radiator? And how easy is it to fit cos I can't afford more garage work?!

Thanks all from a very stressed Felicia owner!

On the radiator it's quite easy to fit. You may need new hose clips and will need some new coolant.

I can't really think of anything that I'd hope the breakdown guy would have checked for, but I would start with the simple things like checking the earth connections are good and the battery connectors are good (no corrosion etc).

Hmm I just had the coolant changed when had big service month ago, should have done it before then if I'd've known, ah well, will see if can drain most out first so don't have to buy loads more, but thanks for saying its easy, I'll have to be brave and give it a go! :)

Check the connections to the starter motor, the wiring to the alternator and it's connections. Have a voltmeter connected up to the battery while the engine is running, which should read between 13 and 14.5 volts. Give the wiring a tug and pull about with the engine running while watching the voltmeter and see if the voltage changes.
