$20 DSG Filling Rig

Featured Replies

Did not want to pay daft money for the DSG filling rig.

With parts lying around plus a new drain plug I made this.

Parts are:

1 x 5 litre water bottle with large cap

1 x 1/2" Hozelock irrigation fitting

1 x M25 cable gland

1 x Hozelock Irrigation main hose valve

2m length of 1/2" clear hose. Because all I had, I used short clear sections (to see the oil flow) and a longer Hozelock main black hose.

1 x Hozelock main hose right angle adapter. Can use a straight one.

1 x DSG gearbox drain plug cost about $2 from dealer.

Take the drain plug and drill out to 13mm. Epoxy the right angle adapter into it. You can use a straight adapter.

Cut a 25mm hole in the water bottle screw cap . Apply silicone, then push the M25 portion of the cable gland through the cap and screw on the 1/2" Hozelock adapter.

Cut base of 5 Litre bottle off and drill a few holes in the side near the top so can pass string through. This is used to hang the bottle from the bonnet

Now push all the hoses and taps together.

Although not clear in pic, there's also a black tap just before the RA adapter on the drain plug.

Done !

Its a piece of kit that allows the oil to be changed in the DSG gearbox from the top of the gearbox while the engine is running.

Fill and drain plug are combined and it sits under the gearbox.

Plug has a hex female socket.

Not to be confused with the engine oil sump hex nut plug.
