Now no central locking

Central locking has been playing up for over a year now

front passenger door started to stay locked, eventually I disconnected it and used it manually.

Then rear passenger door stopped working and wont unlock

Electric window also not working on passenger rear door (OK on all other doors)

Thought I could open rear passenger door by cutting wires entering into door, but still same, door can not be opened.

Now central locking is inoperative on all doors after cutting wires to rear passenger door.

I reconnected the wiring to rear passenger door, but still all doors central locking remains inoperative. boot lock is working from remote and key as normal..

All doors will open apart from rear passenger door.

Not sure what to do now, dealer is likely to charge a huge amount and fix it by changing out expensive parts.

Does anyone know how this system works and have a wiring diagram. Can a door be opened by supplying 12v to the appropriate wire, if so which wire. This system seems over complex and unreliable.:confused:

Invest in a haynes manual, about £15. They have the circuit diagrams which will probably point you to a specific fault. Sounds like a connection has become corroded & is causing strange faults.

Is the central locking circuit fused? I am worried that I have made matters worse by cutting wires to rear passenger door and shorted the circuit, which is why it now doesn;t work on any door, is the central locking controller fragile. I think I will purchase manual as you recommend.

You may have blown a fuse cutting through wires, but it appears that a common fault is the door actuators. if it isn't unlocking and there is no corrosion, that could be the problem ..... my car has had two actautors replaced, one of them being a rear door.

Ive just had my drivers door lock apart to see whay it wasnt unlocking, thought it was going to be a wiring fault which seems common, but wiring all fine, so pulled the actuator apart, nothing apeared broken, grease was a bit dry looking so lubed up the mechanism put it all back together and it works a treat now.

You may be able to do this once you get the door open :)

Still have not managed to open the deadlocked door, would this locked door result in an MOT failure

This guide may help:- http://briskoda.net/technical-guides/door-card-removal-deadlocked-octavia/124920/

If you have already removed the door card then try doing the following:-

Unplug connecter on bottom of control module and using a small mirror and torch check the pins are all ok.

Spray the pins with WD-40.

Make sure control module is all connected back up properly and spray WD-40 onto the white plastic areas on the control module. Give it a good soak!

Carefully remove the door pin rod out of it's locating hole on the control module so it's out of the way.

Place a LONG THIN flat head screwdriver on the seat as you will need this later.

Put window all the way down and stand on the outside of the door.

Wedge a rolled up towel in the outer door handle so it's as if someone is trying to open it from the outside.

Then with one hand from the outside leaning into the car pull on the inner release cable as if someone is trying to open the door from the inside.

Whilst doing all this leaning in from the outside with your free hand grab the screwdriver and place into the gaps in the white plastic parts of the control module and GENTLY wiggle it around. Try this on different parts around where the door pin rod was located.

DO NOT use to much force and break the damn thing! Also keep away from the window which is close to the area you are working around!

This should activate some kind of release mechanism on the control module. It may just pop the door open or once you have done the above stop what you are doing and take the towel out of the outer handle then try opening the door from the outside as normal.

I tried this last week on my front passenger door and once i pulled on the outer handle the door just came open as normal.

Worth a try, may have to do this a few times but no promises.

Good luck.

Thanks for that, I am reluctant to try and remove the door card without first opening the door, surely there must be a way to open the door, now the fuel flap will not open so this must be on the same circuit as the doors, boot must be seperate as this is working fine, doesn't look like a fuse has blown.

Front passenger door lock motor is disconnected allowing door to function manually

Rear passenger door and window failed soon after I disconnected front lock motor

Stupidly I cut the wiring going to the rear door and may have shorted the wires, after this none of the doors except the boot would work electricallly

Even after re wiring the cut wires, no change

Looks like the whole system is dead apart from the boot

Need to get system up and running prior to tackling the rear door problem, which may not be the motor as the window and the lock stopped working, all other windows are working fine.

Just don't know where to turn with this problem, what a bloody nightmare

Well, removed deadlocked door card today, but still could not get the door to unlock, tried applyiny 12z direct to lock motor could hear it running, but wouldn,t unlock.

So decided to break open the motor, eventually was able to bypass the motor and now have a door that works manually.

Still have no central locking on any door or the fule flap and the door mirrors do not move. I guess i am looking at a new control module, car is going to a VAG independant specialist for cam belt change soon, so may now wait and have them diagnose the central locking

How easy is it to recode a new control unit, anyone have method and equipment required to do this.

Thanks in advance

Hi.

I have a similar problem with a locked rear door on my 53 plate Octavia estate, which I have posted elsewhere on the forum.

How did you get the door card off as most of the fixing screws I can see are inaccessable due to the door being closed? Also how did you bypass the motor to get it to work manually?

Cheers.

Removed the doorcard without breaking anything.

I followed the instructions in one of the posts until the point where I had to wiggle a screwdriver in the gaps in the white plastics parts......... I can't see any white plastic parts around the lock area just black & green.

Am I looking in the right place?

I've tried pushing & pulling everything in that area but nothing.

Any ideas

Ear door card removal for deadlocked door

Bottom screws are accessible

Screws at B pillar can be acessed by removing B pillar trim and peeling door seal back, use some librication to prevent damage to seal

The screa at C pillar are not accessible, but mine pulled off leaving the clip on the door without any damage

The motor lock can be prised open two screws are visible for the cover to the motor, remove and prise cover open.

Do not do this if you want to re use the lock motor

The insides of the motor can be levered out

You then should be able to operate the mechanism inside to open the lock

It will take a lot of frustrating fiddling, but it shoild open

Good luck

Let me know how you get on

Got another convieience module, but still no joy at getting the system to work so I currently have :-

1. No central locking

2.. No fuel flap release

3. No electric mirror adjustment

what a pain in the ***

Does anyone know how this system works

Does disconnecting individual door motors cause system problems

How do you code a new module to the system

Anyone know a good auto electrician (Scotland) who could deal with this problem

Bloody hell this is frustrating and ruining a good car, I would certainly think twice before buying another VAG car, my wifes Fiat has no such electrical problems.

Come on guys, someone must know how to recode the convienience module. What do I need and how do you do it. Just taking it to the dealers or an auto electrician is not an option as the charges are too high

Sorry I can't offer any help on recoding but thanks for the help in your previous post.

I have bought a replacement lock & acuator off ebay ready to fit when I get the old lock off.

Any ideas how to get the lock off while door is still shut? When I spoke to the dealers about repairing they said they would have to 'smash' it off.

Also when I fit the new lock if I don't plug it back in, will it just work manually and no danger of deadlocking again?

I do not think that you can get the lock off without opening the door, with some perserverence you should be able to open the door, by levering open the door lock motor. Door should work OK manually with old or new motor actuator with it unplugged. Good luck
