Bit of a newby question here. I am in need of topping up my oil inmy 06reg Octavia 1.9 TDI.

I have had a look through the manual but it does not tell how to find out if my car is short servicing or long servicing.

Do you know how i can find this information out??

Turn the ignition on and hold the reset counter down on the display for a few seconds. This will give you miles left until servicing and you should be able to work out if it is variable or fixed from that.

"...from that.", or not. If the mileage to service is over 12_000 miles, it's a sure indication of variable, but if it's less than that it doesn't tell you either way.

If you have the service logbook, it should show you.
