I tried to order some G52 gear oil for my Octavia last week and the dealer had no record of it. I gave him my gearbox code and he looked it up and ordered what was listed on the system for it. I just had a look at the bottles and they have the Part Number: G 070 726 A2

Is this correct for a 53 plate VRS???

OK. Just done some research and it looks as if "G70" is the replacement for G52. Here is a thread about it from another forum.

You sure thats not for a diesel box.

I gave them my chassis number and they gave me G60 (part number G060726A2) for the Vrs. Thats what i was given in March.

I dont think G70 is specifically for diesels. Looking on this chart it's the same Spec.

Gear oils for passenger cars

Out of interest, what did a litre of this stuff cost ya?

I paid around £4.50 a litre inc vat but Im in the motor trade.

Fair enough, thanks for the info, gives a ballpark figure...

For info my local VW dealer quoted £5.25 for what I'm hoping is a litre of the stuff.
