FAO Joel_vRS (et al?) - matting stuff?

Featured Replies

Hi

Joel mentioned this stuff which can be used to insulate/sound proof your door cards, but I can't remember the name. It was some sort of tape from "marley" and I've approached a couple of my firm's flooring / tile suppliers and none of them know of anything like it.

Any chance of some clarification?

Oh, and I've been allowed back on the net at work... :D :woot:

Was it the Aquaseal stuff that you can get from B&Q?

Dynamat?

Had a search for Andre's thread regarding his ICE install on his old car. IIRC, he used some sort of bitumen tape.

I believe it's here: Clicky

Its like dynamat apparently, comes in 1 foot wide rolls, is a bit thinner than dynamat, but at an eighth of the price it can be tripled/quadrupled up. :D

Try Marley's Roofing supplies...?

Rob.

Jason, you could look at some of the PC sound-deadening materials - might be a bit cheaper than dynamat.

drum roll please ...

apprently the stuff is flashing tape made by wickes and sold there strangly enough...one roll did a whole focus boot.. every little bit

Joel

The stuff your after is either "Marley tape" from B&Q or "Flashing tape" from Wickes.... both offer sound deadening, and i personally used the latter on an old car and worked quite well, although you will need to apply more layers than say dynamat.

Some people i know have applied a couple of layers of marley or flash, and then just one layer dynamat to cut down on costs...

Hope it helps

I can confirm that it is called Aquaseal. It's about
