Weird 'lecky window problem...

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I've a weird problem with my Fabia's passenger side electric window. Until today the window hadn't worked since I got the car about 18 months ago (just never got around to fixing it). Anyway, noticed today that I could open and close it fine from the drivers side window switch, but not from the passenger side switch. In addition to this, when I try to lock the car on either side (no remote CL) the passenger window opens about an inch. Also resetting the electric windows (holding key in drivers side lock in the open position for a few seconds) doesn't open the passenger side window like I would have expected it to...

I'm not overly bothered if the passenger window opens or not, I'm more worried about the window sitting slightly open when I've locked the car! Anyone have any suggestions how I can stop the bloody thing doing this?

Cheers!

Look in the manual to see which fuse is allocated to which window, pull them both out for 10 seconds or so and stick them back in. You will need to reset the one-touch (do a search for that), but it fixes most 'weird' electric window issues IME!

I would disconnect your battery for a couple of mins then reconnect. That should clear any glitches in the ECU. Then to reset the one touch function all you do is. From the drivers side send the widow all the way down via the driverside switch and then back up. When the window is closed keep your finger up for 10 sec whilst the window is closed. Do this for both widows and that should sort it.

Sounds like you need a new switch on the passenger side. Mine went cost about £20 and the switch comes with the piece of trim that is sit in.

Hope this helps.

If the window swicth has gone you can acutaly take them apart and clean the contacts if your careful.
