I kerbed my alloy yesterday AARGHHHH..anyway, it's not your normal 'gouge', but I can still feel the depth with my fingernail. I've ordered some of this..any good, and any suggestions for DIY?

That's not kerbing! That's just a small bit of scratching.

Kerbing to me is when you scrape a good few inches of the rim edge and it leaves behind a nasty grey/black mess.

The kit you got should help alleviate most of the obvious tarnishing.

I'd be tempted to try and polish that out first , try some well soaked 3000grit wet and dry
