Fabia window regulator problem

Recommended Posts

My mum's fabia window regulator broke last week and i've foolishly decided to have a go at replacing it, I've managed to strip the door back to everything apart from the electric connector on the door lock mechanism, which despite my best efforts (and lots of swearing!) doesn't seem to want to disconnect from door lock. Does anyone know if there is any tricks to getting this to disconnect. It's a 2001 1.9 TDi elegance with electric windows all round and it's the front passenger side which has given up the ghost.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Alex

Theres a small catch on it that needs to be depressed to allow the connector to pull down and come undone. When I did ours I managed to have a look with a torch and a mirror to see what needed to be pressed but you do have to do it "blind" so to speak.

Also be careful with the pop up indicator for the door lock when you take the inner door skin off. It's easy to break the plastic clip at the door lock end (I broke ours trying to get it off but managed to get t back in position and wire it in place with soem garden tie wire.

Be careful and ensure you've got it fully depressed before yanking on it as I Broke mine :(

All back together and just waiting for it to slip off now.. It's kinda inevitable, doubtless to say I always just glance at the door pin when i lock up now.

Thanks for the replies, I've managed to get the connector off now so all thats left to is drill the rivets stick the new one on and hope that it alls goes back together.
