Anyone used www.wheelrefurbishing.com (aka, BJV)?

Featured Replies

As above..

have quoted me £140 for 4 wheels to be refurbished, no tyres involved and me dropping off and collecting (they're 30min away).

Anyone know of or have used.. Price seems great!

Yes - Mr. Vallac. He did my Estelle wheels. Quality is very good, but 'thicker' than the original spray paint silver finish. The wheels will look really good when done - I was really please with the work.

So "Mr Vallac" is BJV / Wheelrefurbising.com then? Not so important about being different to OEM as not going OEM anyhow ;)

p.s. How's your Dad getting on with his 1.4?

I've heard of them, but never used them. They get good reviews and happy customers, so I'd go for it - given the price and proximity :)

Steve

I've heard good things too

do they paint or powder coat, id expect for that price it to be a paint job

Yeah, think it's paint for the finish I'm most likely after.... but could be a powder coat I guess. Says on the site most of there jobs are powder coated.

Is this a big disadvantage?

How did I miss that thread? I Searched BJV annnndddd Wheelrefurbishing.com.. ho hum.

Looking good for the company though and an amazing price considering I've had quotes of over £300 from other places!

Yes!! I have had two sets of wheels from them, latterly the TT comps and before that my std vRS alloys for the fabia.

I've had 6 sets of wheels done at BJV and they can be a bit naughty about tiny imperfections in the refinishing. I would definitely check the wheels with a toothcomb before taking them away as trying to get them to do rectification work afterwards is something of a nightmare.

The finish is also a bit 'soft' in that it doesn't scratch so much as gouge in 2-3mm wide areas if it does get damaged.

They are cheap enough though.

Mind your sump on the way in though - the potholes at the bottom of the drive are big enough to lose a Fabia in!

Good company, had a set of split rims off my old polo gti refurbed by them including fixing a large dent in the alloy. Came back looking top notch. Using them again shortly!

powder coating is far more durable than a paint job, usually costs more

Yes - the V in BJV is Vallac (s.p.?). He dips the wheels in a strong solution and gets rid of even bad corrosion, and the finish is still holding up well after 5 years.

Dad's 1.4? He thinks it is brilliant - the best car he has ever owned he says. He is pampering it on a weekly basis and only the best microfibre cloths are allowed near it:D.
