Just Go For a Drive

Featured Replies

Friday night 11:50PM and decided to just go out in the VRS for a drive on the quiet roads.

Livingston to West Calder, then Lanark road to Biggar, then Biggar to Edinburgh, and back to Livingston on the M8 motorway. 64 miles and quite a hoot.

Picked up a Beamer on my back bumper in West Calder, one of those clods who drives with front fogs on in clear weather  He follows me onto the Lanark Road, VRS into 3rd,. floor it, watch the Beamer vanish in the rear view mirror  Back off to 60, he catches up, serious set of 's' bends and he spins out

They have resurfaced the roads along most of this route, so it was a nice smooth ride, with some serious corners to keep you awake :D

Stopped for diesel in Edinburgh, 101.9/Litre so it's coming down in price again. Got home and the odometer is now on exactly 30,000 miles, so nearly run in then

I thought you were a grown-up?

Isn't that Biggar-Edinburgh road the one with the downhill hairpins with a serious drop on the ouitside? I love that loooooong straight bit just after Biggar too.

30k? Pah. Mine's literally just about to tick over 70k and feels smoother than ever ;).

And he seriously span out? :D - if noone was hurt.. :D

Me grown up, never happen, still just a big kid

Yes you have the right road. Long stretch at 3 mile burn for, erm, testing/turbo cleaning  Floterstone esses with some nice off camber, then Fairmilehead with a fairly steep drop off on the right if your heading North. Great road if you know it well. Frustrating unless driven late at night though

He was fine, just did a complete 360 and then slowed way down

Nice to know the VRS is good for high mileage, I want to keep this car forever :D

I refuse to give in to Beemer drivers normally but even my boggo car can give them a hard time sometimes. I was talking about this sort of thing to a few of the guys at Gaydon and it is amazing how upset people can get when toasted by a Skoda. Some of the old prejudice remains amongst motoring imbeciles methinks.
