Whistle noise?

Featured Replies

 Hi, I have recently purchased a 2006(56) Octavia 1.9 tdi 12,500 and have noticed that it makes a whistling noise when i accelerate at between 2-2500 revs and seems more noticable when the engine is cold. I have spoken to the dealer (independant) i bought it off and he has told me to bring it in for them to loook at.

I just wanted any info of what it could be,could it be serious and what should i be making sure they check. The car is still under skoda warrany as well. I think!.

Thanks

Erm, I think you'll find its the turbo - and its normal!

Is this a wind up?

Unless its very loud I'm pretty sure that's what a turbocharged engine is supposed to sound like. The dealers will tell you anyway. On my 1.9 TDi I have to turn the radio off and open the window slightly to hear the turbo whistle clearly. 2-2500rpm is where that engine starts to get interesting anyway :)...

Some are louder than others, but it is normal.
