Well, Just the Squeak for the moment..

BTW, I'm new here. Great Site!

I am totally smitten by my new Octavia really, but after the first 7 months of ownership, under admittedly horrible roads, I am hearing an ambarrasing squeak coming from an undefinable spot underneath the floorboards while driving over bumpy surfaces.

Upon inspection, I am finding that when I push down the rear, left hand side suspension, I intermittently hear a tiny squeaking creak.

I wonder whether anyone had the same experience, or know someone who has. I'de like some backup information before I go to the dealer and he tells me something like 'We can't find what the problem is..'

If the dealer can't locate the problem, you should ask that one of the mechanics (or the dealer him/herself) comes out for a quick spin with you so you can try and "prove" there's a noise...

Something similar happened with my old Xantia - it was making a horrible sound when I applied the brakes. Took it to local tyres/exhausts/brakes place, left it with them for the day, and they said "nope, nothing wrong". I then insisted the manager come for a drive, upon which he spotted the noise straight away (and proceeded to slag off his staff for being so crap!). Needed new disks and pads :(

Good ! (: Another guy from Malta. I think it is to be expected to have sqeaks while driving over our roads. You can have someone else driving your car, while you try to locate the noise, maybe it can help.

Leyland, I look back at the waiting time for my skoda (3 months!) with agony. I used to pine for my car to arrive, and when it did, it met all my expectations, and went beyond! It has an excellent drive (and this is the TDI), I can't imagine what it must be like to drive the VRS (although the nice people here on this site give me a hint..)

If it is a creaking noise, then more than likely it is one of the anti-roll bar bushes. Mine ran dry (not enough grease on it) and it makes a creaking/squeeking noise especially when going over any large bumps / humps.

My dealer identified it straight away.
