Another race meet at Combe - another picture thread :o)

Featured Replies

As the title says Dunlop Great & British meeting at Castle Combe this weekend so went along both days

I managed to forget the camera on Saturday when it was sunny  and then spent Sunday standing in either a t-shirt and baking sunshine or in a coat and under 2 umbrellas during torrential showers! Stupid British July weather!

However 500 more photos and i'm still not really any the wiser about what works and what doesn't :o I can sort of get the motion blur of panning shots using bigger aperture but then some come out dark or too light or not blurred enough and if i play around with shutter speed things go very wrong :D

That said though I don't actually DO anything with the shots except leave them on the HD and if i can pull a few shots i'm happy enough with to post them here even then i consider the day a success!

Full album here

Enjoy

Now that looked like a great day out. Shame about the weather, that's some serious standing water on that track:eek:

Looks like you done well in those tough conditions:thumbup:

That's an interesting set of races - wonder what other tracks they do?

Good shots Pastyboy!

It's a close one between the 99ron VXR slide and the pack heading down towards Quarry on a slightly moist track for me.

Oh and Chris.G, what do you mean shame about the weather  :) I was there with Pastyboy both days and I can categorically say that I would choose wet races over dry ones every time. So much more action and it can also be a bit of a leveller for the chaps without thousands of pounds to throw at their cars every week to get more power etc. Driving skill and feel comes into it a lot more IMHO.

One of the commentators said that he thought they should install trackside sprinklers to have the track permanently wet:D I'm inclined to agree with him:P

Brilliant pictures, nice to see Abbie (Eaton) out in the Corsa....

Jabba engine & manifold in the torque steer leon too :D

I was amazed to see that they actually let those of the female persuasion behind the wheel of race cars!

Good work! It's a beast! Although he got beaten on Sunday by an M3 wth an equally stupid amount of power! ;)

You'll be surprised, usually at this level of motorsport women are better suported by teams like thoney motorsport, they're better all round, advertising, media etc.

Will you be at the autometrix day, i think we may have the Britcar Stupid HP Leon Supercopa out.

Oh, and as for the M3 that had road plates...

Even a car driven to and from the circuit can be quick, i proved that by setting the fastest lap at the last race meeting then loading all my stuff into the back of the car, putting number plates back on and driving home lol.

yeah i know comment was more tongue in cheek than anything - every BTCC meet i see Alice Powell racing Formula Renault at 15!!

Yeah might go down to that one. Ilsa Cox who I think is local to Combe has one of the ex-Cupra Cup cars and has raced it a few times with very good results.

yeah i have no doubt it was a quick car just that in the conditions he may have been holding back so he was sure he could drive home.

Oh and yes your a racing driver (and a very good one by all accounts) we get it!! :P:)
