batteries for remote

Featured Replies

2001 Octavia Tdi - it's the simple rigid key, what batteries should be in it ?

it has a single cr2032 in at the moment which has only lasted 10 months, but i've heard of some having 2xcr2016

any definitive answer ?

2 x CR2016 would give twice the voltage, but not necessarily any longer life, probably rather the reverse.

And a shameless plug for my mate must be in order here... :D

well, if I wasn't going on holiday tomorrow, your mate would get an order - as it is, i'll have to pay through the nose at Tesco's on the way home

Are you sure it's the cell/battery?

My keys are three and a half years old (from new) and still have the same batteries (I swap them around - live/spare - every couple of months). When one stopped working, I opened it up http://www.mike-jones.ukfsn.org/pix/index.php3?folder=key, brushed out the fluff, and it worked like new again.

yeah, mine are fine too - one I have had for 2 years, and it wasn't new when I got the car.... and mine has 1xCR2032 also.

The java based shop is pretty horrible and his prices don't seem to be too hot either.

You can get a tray of 20 batteries off ebay for
