Singapore Skoda Owners

Featured Replies

Yo, I have just purchased a Brand new Octavia Ambiente 1.6 Auto. Can anyone in sg share what upgrades should be done to boost this car a little? Any thing that I should take note e.g dun rev the car too much during run-in period (BTW, how much is the run-in period)

Sad to see that there is no Skoda community in sg. Heard that JTA (previous distributor) made a big dent to skoda in sg time time. That explains why it's got such bad resale value... So far no second-hand ad on skoda in todays paper.

Lets sg Skodian gather..

rgds,

Ahoj,

Cant answer any of your questions myself - but I'm sure someone will...

This is a quick note to say hello and welcome - :bttt:

There is a Fabia owner, from/in Singapore who looks in here from time to time...

CC1,

As John rightly states........there is a Fabia owner who looks in from time to time......me !!! Well u may not know.......but there is a Skoda community in Sg....small but in existence.......I can attest to it......I do log in there.........mycarforum.com. There is VAG community there of which there is a small but select group which has limited access to a Skoda lounge. Membership to the lounge is only on a selected member basis.........u will have to attend the meetups, get verified ....then allowed access to the lounge.

I only recently joined the lounge.....cos previously owned another VAG group car ....SEAT ......since changed to a Fabia. Am more active @ SEATSG.org. I do pop in to BriSkoda off and on for resource material......cos they have so many more Skoda owners ....here .......most definately very helpful !!!

As for your query on boosting the car a little.........let me answer u later.......will gather some more info for u.....

Regards

:D :p

Welcome to Briskoda

I have a 1.6 Ambiente too, though it's manual. I seem to recall improving

performance has been discussed on here before, and this is what I remember

from it:

1. Improve induction and exhaust (new filter and racing exhaust) - this is

probably the best increase for the money.

2. Chipping - won't really do much and will cost a lot.

3. Strip the car down - remove the spare wheel, rear seats, and generally

anything that's just ballast. Quite an extreme measure but effective!

4. Run nitrous oxide/fit a turbo. The first will give you a good boost,

but will probably strain your engine and be a fire hazard. The latter will

cost a bit but will return good results.

Bought my car at 13,500 miles, so not sure of the run in period - I'd imagine

mine got a pretty unsympathetic run-in, as it was previously a hire car! :D

Think it's usually about 1000 miles though...

Rob.
