Still in trouble with the Felly, had to buy another car to go to work, but still working on it...

I replaced coil pack, lambda probe, temp sender, checked valve clearances, cleaned MAP sensor, and some other thing...But still...

It is definitely "better", with new parts in it. It starts OK now every times, but still ends in a choky state after 15 secs, but I can make it revs again, etc... Until drop dead...

I noticed that if I put the engine around 3000RPM, and release the gas pedal, then it does not try to stay idle, but just decrease speed up to 0, and stops.

So I took off the black air inlet box, to have a look to the air inlet butterfly valve while running. I was activating with my hand directly the valve, and was able to hear like "backdrafts" from the engine, like exhaust gas getting out from the inlet! Is this normal doc..?

I'm gonna take the catalytic converter of the exhaust line and check if the line would not be clogged up...

Any idea what I should take a look at..? Fuel pressure regulator..?

It could be the cat blocked, If it is , take it off and smash out the ceramic internals. It should gain a few horses then

So, I took the catalyser off, tried to start, and couldn't...

I then disconnected the lamba probe, and was able to start, but still same issue... It ends in choking and stopping.

I was able to see through the cat, so I guess it is OK!

Before sending the car to a Skoda garage to be plugged on their console, can I try something else..?

It sounds like fuel starvation... This is why I was talking about the fuel pressure regulator.

Can the fuel pump be my problem..? (The fuel filter already got replaced)

Is it embedded in the tank..?

Can a fuel filter plugged in the wrong way leads to fuel starvation..?

yes, to me i does sound like fuel starvation, but mind you i drive a carb model, so the sensor that controls the pump is the hal sensor (i think i got that right) and maybe is damaged, take it out, get a tester and measure ohms between the circuit, most VW sensor measure around 20 ohms, but you might want to check with a good one,

if its not the sensor, try reseting the computer, disconect the battery over night, (one way i've read to do this) or leave the car on (but dont try to start) for 15 secconds then turn off and on again.

another thing to mention is check ignition timing, if its out of spec the computer will go crazy trying to adjust it hence getting the car to turn off due to mist timing.

some things out of the top of my head, hope it help, i know it suck being a pedestrian and those car (felicias) do get to you
